Bluenose Fillets

Bluenose, or Mātiri, are part of the Wārehou family. Like Hāpuku and Bass, Bluenose fish are caught at a depth of between 100 to 300 meters, and can grow up to 25kg in weight. We catch Bluenose year round.

They are objectively a stunner of a fish, with a light grey, silvery, iridescent sheen. Bluenose eats just as beautifully, with a wonderfully sweet, broad-flaked and firm flesh.

Our Bluenose Fillets are very versatile, but are particularly brilliant when grilled and pan roasted as their large firm flake holds together well. That means they are equally as suited to dishes such as curries and seafood chowders, as they maintain their shape and readily take on strong flavours.
