Sanford and Sons is proudly New Zealand’s oldest fishmonger. We’ve been supplying Kiwis with the freshest fish and seafood via our flagship store in the heart of the Auckland Fish Market since – well, ages ago! It all started with our founder, Albert Sanford, who began fishing for Snapper in the Hauraki Gulf way back in 1864. He went on to open his first fish market in Auckland in 1894. Today, Sanford and Sons Fishmonger is still the heart of The Auckland Fish Market, operating out of the very same building Albert constructed on the Auckland waterfront over 125 years ago.

Our fresh catch is landed daily, so you can choose the freshest fish with the click of a mouse, straight from our docks to your door. As a part of Sanford Limited, we are able to offer a regular supply of your favourite fish species, along with seasonal offerings so you might choose a different fish, and maybe try a different dish? Where we can’t catch or farm a species ourselves, we work alongside other respected fishers, contractors and businesses to offer a wide variety of seafood – from fresh and smoked fish to crustaceans and shellfish – to ensure you have easy and convenient access to the natural bounty of our oceans.
